System Mechanic 6 Professional review

Thursday 16 February 2006, 9:30 AM

Slows legacy PCs down too much

Ok, used a PIII 500 with XP Pro, however it crippled it! Analysing took too long and unfortunately system hung on defrag, so had to roll back and did not use again. Perhaps its too much for older PCs (that need the help!).

Also, did not like the fact that no real documentation was available as I really do prefer to thumb through paper when problems occur (especially when a PC is crippled)... please supply some form of manual!

Verdict

System Mechanic 6 Professional offers the best package of utilities for optimising and protecting your hard drive, but the software's lack of documentation makes it poorly suited for the average computer user.
