System Mechanic 6 Professional review

Monday 13 February 2006, 9:36 AM

Too many cooks spoil the food

Great tool but the methods make it bad -- espcially the automatic discovery of problems.

if you report problems to IOLO they will say "use the latest version "and the bugs are untouched in the latest versions. Pathetic support from IOLO.

Security features make the system unavailable to LAN and need re-installation of OS to fix the problem.

Use the system mechanic 5.5 -- it's a stable and trustworthy tool.

Verdict

System Mechanic 6 Professional offers the best package of utilities for optimising and protecting your hard drive, but the software's lack of documentation makes it poorly suited for the average computer user.
