Forgot to keep the basics

After using WS_FTP since their first commercial offering, I have to look for either another solution or find older versions. IMO, they have changed an application that was once the most efficient and reliable FTP application out there for a bug-ridden, bells and whistles filled, joke of an app. Examples are:

The edit manager is in an awkward location and un-dockable.
The one feature that's been asked for many times over the years, ability to spawn a new file from within WS_FTP, is still missing.
Documentation for features, both old and new, is convoluted, eating up time to figure out how to use them effectively.
Bugs like files not showing up in the window when transferred and refreshed, or even worse, being corrupted or a portion of the file is missing, yet WS_FTP reports a clean upload.

Honestly, I see very little to gain, if at all, by upgrading to this latest version. When I’ve attempted to contact support, replies are either canned, or non-existent. Unfortunately, from my experience the past few years this seems to be par for the course for most software upgrades nowdays. Congratulations WS_FTP, I believe that you are now mainstream, and have the low quality software and support to prove it!

Verdict

No other FTP client can match the features and customisation options of Ipswitch’s WS_FTP, which makes data management tasks faster, easier and more secure. The latest version is a solid upgrade, focussing specifically on the needs of business users.
