Norton Goback 4.0

Thought I'd better balance the opinion here as a user of GoBack since version 1.0.
It's got me out of trouble more times than I can remember.
I currently use GoBack 4.02 on two desktops and three laptops without any problem whatsoever.
I've used it for years on an assortment of other PCs with no problems.
Good points - apart from the obvious handy restore facilities, it provides a log of all changes to the disk drives so you can see what files have been created, changed or deleted - whatever the application that caused it - very useful !!! It's all automatic so there's no need to remember to set a restore point before installing new software etc.
Bad points - there is quite a bit of drive access, although it doesn't noticably slow the system. The changes that can be made within SafeTry are limited to the size of the buffer (8 Gig on XP).
Doesn't support Vista. The worst thing about GoBack is that it will sometimes stop recording changes and delete the change history if "excessive disk activity has been detected". This can happen if installing very large programs or downloading files in excess of 6 Gig.

Verdict

Although the System Restore utility built into Windows XP is nice, Norton GoBack 4.0 delivers a lot more control and flexibility, making your PC almost glitch-proof.
