Norton AntiVirus 2004 review

Saturday 27 March 2004, 1:47 AM

Won't install -- hangs machine at boot

Update from hell:
- I have spent about 12 hours now trying to put Norton AntiVirus 2004 on my Windows XP system. I have followed all the entries in their so-called knowledgebase -- machine locks up solid. All their instructions just say is to uninstall and reinstall. They even have a detailed list of numerous registry deletes -- not sure why they don't give you a file to download an run.

Junk!

- I have a liscense for 2 machines and the install on my wife's Windows 2000 went fine.

Verdict

NAV 2004 is still a good choice for first timers, but its minor improvements mean that NAV 2003 users need not upgrade.

"We don't recommend specific technologies — we promote the use of technology per se." What sort of nonsense is this?? Every Becta endorsed IT supplier to schools is a Microsoft shop. Every single one.
