I just tried to install Norton Antivirus pro 2004, and it never asked me for the serial number. Now LiveUpdate won't work and the active scan disappears. Activation seems to be the common problem. Shades of the Turbo Tax activation problems. I'll live with AntiVirus 2003 as long as I can.

7.8NAV 2004 is still a good choice for first timers, but its minor improvements mean that NAV 2003 users need not upgrade.

Why do so many (virtually all) software packages think that they are so important that they have to be started automatically every time the computer boots? What is the largest number of "speed access", "update check", "camera download" and whatever other background programs you have ever seen running? Of those, how many did you really need?
