NIS 2002 is a bit dated now but still offers very good protection.

I have used NIS 2002 since I bought my PC in October 2002, it came preinstalled. And as my needs have grown, from dial-up to broadband, NIS 2002 has seems to have grown with me. Especially as it has a wealth of features users can switched on to give added protection, e.g. Port blocking and ad blocking. The ad blocking feature is very useful especially if you install free software that attracts ads from ad servers.

Although this product may now be considered partially out of date it still offers very good protection against hackers, viruses and worms.

Verdict

We love the firewall and anti-virus combo, but if all you want is a way to keep hackers at bay, Norton Internet Security 2002 costs too much. Get it if you need anti-virus protection too; otherwise, download the free ZoneAlarm firewall.

£ 49

What is the largest number of "speed access", "update check", "camera download" and whatever other background programs you have ever seen running? Of those, how many did you really need?
