fire fox 3 vs IE8 beta 1

First things first.

I would describe my self as fairly new to the world of looking under the windows bonnet, and finding it fascinating and enjoyable.

Firefox 3 seems to take its time allowing the ticks to show from mcAfee site adviser, and a little slow downloading podcasts from the BBC website for some reason. In comparison I am also running IE8 beta1 and will download them faster. At the moment there is not much between these two browsers for me, sometimes i will have a browser window open in each, with no complaints from my test rig (a six year old XP advent 7011 laptop).

Overall fire fox 3 is working very well for me. Trouble is IE8 beta1 has been running flawlessly (I hope they don t mess this up with later releases)!

I think it s a good thing to have competition between these two browsers now..you know, that thing about being on tip toes.

If only for its speed, lightness of being and security, Firefox remains our Editors' Choice for the best internet browser.
