Makes instant messaging more managable
I have many contacts on AIM, Yahoo, ICQ and MSN, and having all these contacts accessible from a single super-simple interface is a godsend. Not only that, but if a contact has accounts on more than one medium (e.g. both AIM and MSN), then Trillian's meta-contact feature can group these media under a single contact -- which means I can see at a glance if someone is online or not. And if want to change my status to "Away", then I do this once with a single click, which will be reflected on all my IM accounts instantly. Trillian makes it all so simple in practice that I can't imagine switching back to fiddling around with several separate interfaces ever again. The only negative I can find with Trillian is the extensive memory bandwidth overhead, and if you're a power user running heavy weight applications then Trillian may impact on system performance -- even when it's not doing anything Task Manager reports a continual memory bandwidth overhead.
Having said that, Trillian is feature rich, simple to use, and stable, which makes it easy to recommend. Easily the best IM client currently available.
