It may be a little rough around the edges here and there, but then Word's not much better!

OOo is quite a well rounded program. For the price it is excellent. But is it good for business? Sure! It is just as good as Microsoft Word in most respects, is more or less compatible. Besides, many people do not use the advanced features of Office that they end up paying for! The reliablity is now quite good, and for those who criticize OOo here I say since when were Microsoft programs reliable?
I use OOo all of the time, and I have to say it is easier to use. My productivity has improved since I switched from office.

Verdict

This feature-rich, flexible and, above all, free office suite is much more than a refuge for the anti-Microsoft tendency. It works, it’s reliable and it’s useful.

Why do so many (virtually all) software packages think that they are so important that they have to be started automatically every time the computer boots? What is the largest number of "speed access", "update check", "camera download" and whatever other background programs you have ever seen running? Of those, how many did you really need?
