GoldMine 6.0 Business Contact Manager review

Friday 20 February 2004, 11:40 PM

Too many bugs: promises way more than it delivers

I rate my experience with databases and contact management software as better than average. I was quite surprised at how "buggy" this one is. There are so many haphazardly cobbled "features" all over the place. The biggest problem, however, is how unstable the software is. Sneeze, and you could crash your database.

Furthermore, techical support was expensive and below par. FrontRange's technicians don't even seem to know their own software. They wasted my time and appeared to be ultra-focused on getting my cash, not solving my problems.

What a waste of time!

Why do so many (virtually all) software packages think that they are so important that they have to be started automatically every time the computer boots? What is the largest number of "speed access", "update check", "camera download" and whatever other background programs you have ever seen running? Of those, how many did you really need?
