Best option for the price

Goldmine was and is the leader in terms of features and functions in the low-end CRM category. Where else can you get a 5 user system for < $1000 and take care of all your SFA, CRM and Account Management needs?

Having said that, the design of GW is somewhat old (as compared to the Outlook variants and the web-based solutions). But don't get me started about those. Give them at least two to three more years before they come close to GM.

Why do so many (virtually all) software packages think that they are so important that they have to be started automatically every time the computer boots? What is the largest number of "speed access", "update check", "camera download" and whatever other background programs you have ever seen running? Of those, how many did you really need?
