Program Compatibility Wizard
Perhaps the biggest new feature within Windows Vista RC1 is the Program Compatibility Wizard, which is designed to make older applications run smoothly on Vista. To test this, we searched CNET's Download.com for a Windows 95 game demo, Full Tilt. Of course, once installed, Vista wouldn't run it. But we were able to tweak the operating system and fool the application into thinking we were running Windows 95 with 256-bit graphics. Once we did so, the game ran under Vista.
