New graphics illustrating the makeup of your system
The improved graphics capabilities shine in the My Computer screen, with brightly colored graphs and graphics to illustrate the current state of your system.

Organise those files
There's a new organisation structure throughout Longhorn, grouping items for easier display and access. Here, instead of a long list of filenames, they're grouped alphabetically.

Make contact sheets for your photos
Longhorn's new graphics engine, Avalon, allows detailed thumbnail views of all media files, eliminating the need to guess.

Sort your music by favourites
New search capabilities built into Longhorn make it easy to group and index your music files.

Search within files
Embedded within Longhorn is an integrated desktop search. You're not limited to just filename and file type; Longhorn will allow you to search for a variety of criteria, such as bit depth and camera model information supplied by your digital camera.

See what you delete
Thumbnail images aren't limited to graphics. Here, files marked for deletion are clearly visible, reducing the chance that you'll delete the wrong file by mistake.

New skins for old applications
Although the Windows Media Center itself isn't updated in this preview release, its look and feel are. Present are many of the same organisational and indexing options available elsewhere within Longhorn, along with a new look for the toolbar.
