DB2 9 has significantly raised the bar for database development with a pure XML solution and a free Express-C edition. Enhancements to administration features and functionality could make it a compelling upgrade for existing DB2 customers, while the slick new Eclipse-based Developer Workbench is an added bonus.

The internet is going to have do a lot of maturing before it is ready for this kind of traffic. Security is always going to be a problem, connectivity is poor, and most business's are unwilling for their employees to have open access.
