Opteron drivers on install disc are dreadful (especially USB)

I've been testing the full release version that came from MSDN and the Opteron (AMD 8000 chipset) drivers are dreadful. The USB service keeps hanging (on and after installation) and you need to restart the system to get it working again. I don't have PS2 ports (Sun Java Workstation W1100z) so I can't use the keyboard or mouse. I've gone back to XP SP2 as it's much more reliable. I'd wait another 6 months until drivers are sorted before trying it again.

Verdict

Only software developers and high-end workstation users will see real benefits from Windows XP Professional x64 Edition; everyone else should stick with 32-bit Windows XP instead.
