ScanSoft PDF Converter review

Friday 5 December 2003, 9:45 PM

What a mess!

Converted two documents. They both turned into a mess, worse than when copying text using the Adobe text copy feature from within a PDF file. Large sections of text were unreadable. The program has also been messing with my Normal.dot file and Word gives me an error message everytime I start it. The only good thing I have to say is that ScanSoft offers a 30 day money back guarantee.

Verdict

Anyone needing to edit text distributed via PDFs should find PDF Converter invaluable. It needs to lose its umbilical link with Microsoft Word, though.

Featured Talkback

Why do so many (virtually all) software packages think that they are so important that they have to be started automatically every time the computer boots? What is the largest number of "speed access", "update check", "camera download" and whatever other background programs you have ever seen running? Of those, how many did you really need?
