SuSE Linux Desktop review

Tuesday 9 March 2004, 4:38 PM

Once setup correctly presents no problem on a Windows network.

It would appear that the reviewer did not have sufficient experience to be able to fix his Samba problems. Though relatively new to Linux, I was able to correct the Samba issues without changing any security settings on the Windows side. The video capture and Palm sync part of the system needs work, but all else seems to run OK.

Verdict

Can you use a Linux system successfully in a Windows-dominated environment? That's what SuSE's Linux Desktop is designed to facilitate. We find that you can, although there are plenty of glitches to iron out.
