Reliable drive, but not as fast as advertised

The drive will successfully burn just about any media, and it handles all the formats that it advertises. It is, however, very picky about the media that it will burn at 4x. I've yet to encounter a brand of disc that will burn at 4x on this drive. This includes several expensive brands of DVD+R and DVD-R. I can never exceed 2x.

Oddly, it has no trouble reaching the spec'ed speed of 2.4x on DVD-RW and DVD+RW media. Haven't tried DVD-RAM.

Manufacturer support is awkward, as the site is fragmented into several sites, and firmware fixes tend to be ineffective and infrequent (flashed to A302 before review).
