Very flexible, especially with my \Panasonic DVD recorder, which is excellent.
My decision to go for the Panasonic LF-D521 was to enable editing and DVD burning of programmes recorded on my Panasonic DMR-E50 DVD recorder, which is excellent as is the LF-D521. While most PC magazines do not rate the LF-D521 for its lack of burning speed compared with competitors, in most instances this is of little consequence. You can start it burning your DVD and leave it to complete the job.
I've had no failures or compatibility problems with CD and DVD burners, Home-recorded DVD videos, Pinnacle Studio 9, Sonic MyDVD, Intervideo WinDVD 5, etc. DVD-RAM works just like a hard drive and is excellent for backing up data. Keep up the good work Panasonic! We often record TV programmes while we are out. You just press 'Play' when you get home and you start from the programme beginning while the recorder is still recording.
I did a lot of research before deciding on Panasonic's DVD-RAM options and I don't understand why DVD-RAM as a recording and data storage medium is not rated by the UK PC Press and PC suppliers.
