Full featured desktop replacement

I just got this laptop (1.73gHz/512/40GB/DVD&CD Super Multi Drive Burner, and ATI x600 64MB) to replace my aging IBM T20. I have to say I am very pleased with the system, the design, its operation, and the build quality. The PC runs quiet and cool. It has basically all the options one needs: 4xUSB 2.0, 1 Firewire, b/g wireless, Bluetooth, IR, S-video, and even serial and parallel ports. It has one nice improvement over the IBM ThinkPad touchsticks, in that the stick itself can be used as a mouse button by tapping straight down on it. That works pretty well, but can only be set to perform either as a left or a right click, not both.

Verdict

Although its design is distinctly uninspiring, the LifeBook E8020 is an excellent performer with a good set of features. This is a solid sub-3kg desktop replacement system that can, at a pinch, be taken on your travels.
