JVC Mini Note MP-XV841 review

Saturday 27 May 2006, 12:41 AM

A great lightweight companion

The lightweight of the JVC has to be its main selling point. You can carry it around in your bag all day and barely notice it - not something that can be said for something like an equivalently priced 12" iBook. For the price (£700 in the UK) there really is nothing smaller or lighter. The keyboard takes some getting used to, but I've written many thousands of words on it without any trouble. The nipple is fine for use when travelling, but it's worth investing in a mouse if you're using it on a desk for any length of time. The display is great - especially good for watching DVDs on a plane and the volume is surprising especially considering the smallness of the speakers. It's hard to see how JVC could have fitted any more ports onto this little wonder - it has everything you could really ask for. If you need bluetooth - buy a cheepo dongle off ebay. All in - it's something I don't want to be without.
