I will never buy another Dell

I paid top dollar for this laptop two years ago and would expect to have it last another two years at least. I am an IT contractor and wanted a powerful laptop which would run the IBM software which I was working on at the time.

Within a few months I started having problems with the DVD drive. It would not open. I called technical support and someone came the following day which was impressive. Although the problem was resolved I was never entirely satisfied. The drive does not sit flush with the side of the laptop (unlike the swappable 3 ˝ inch drive and I have had similar problems since. What has become apparent is that the DVD drive is temperamental and often will not read CDs first time or for that matter, 2nd, 3rd, 4th…

I tried to install “Civilization IV” on my laptop but it appears the graphics card / drivers are not compatible which is inexcusable for a new machine.

However, my worst problem is with overheating. On a subsequent contract my colleagues started making fun of the laptop because it sounds at times like an aircraft preparing for take-off with the fans trying to cool the box down. In the last six months the machine will either blue-screen or freeze due to overheating sometimes after less than an hour of operating.

And of course it and the clunky power supply are extremely heavy

Buy at your peril.

Review Although it's missing some features (chiefly HSDPA and GPS), Nokia's E63 is a well-thought-out, ergonomic and affordable smartphone.
