Prior netbook user, will get this over laptop

I produce a lot of text and find laptops impaired by long bootups, short battery life, and heavy weight. I have always used clamshell PDA's and own the netbook and Psion Series 5MX, but the netbook I have is long in the tooth and functions primarily as a very competent word processor. I want a bit more, and having looked at the Sony TR2, Fujitsu minilaptops, and such, I find that I prefer the full enchilada on a desktop and use my laptop as a satellite. This is where the netbook form factor excels. My other choice is an NEC 900 or finding a used HP Jornada 728, but my eye is on the netbook PRO. It is available at expansys.com (where I purchased my netbook). Psionplace.com has a board where actual users have basically raved about the netbook PRO, despite being non-Symbian/EPOC. My ratings are primarily from my experience with netbook -pricy, support helpful but sometimes in Connecticut, sometimes in Canada, Sometimes in the UK. The quality is good -have dropped several times from carrying height to office floor without problem. Features are poor, but this doesn't scare me.

Verdict

The NetBook Pro looks like a mini-notebook, yet runs the handheld-orientated Windows CE .NET 4.2 OS. Although it’s primarily aimed at corporate mobile workforces, we think it could have wider appeal.

The Redfly 'Notbook'

When is a netbook (or mini-notebook) not a netbook? When it's a 'notbook' such as Celio's Redfly Mobile Companion, that's when. You might have thought that the idea of a netbook-format... More
