value for money

I have had this computer for 3 years as a degree student and have found it excellent. i have only ever had one problem with it and i ended up phoning America as it was quite late the problem was sorted and i didn't get charged very much for the call. I can not recommend this laptop enough. I know that it is now out of date, no dvd r/w and it can over heat if you're stupid enough to be unaware of this you get what you deserve .I've never been that stupid so the machine has been excellent. My daughters very expensive sony laptop is only equal in my estimation. Shame HP don't seem to make high end super sexy slim laptops just reliable 'bricks' but i love mine.

Verdict

The NX9005 has almost everything you need in a business notebook, for a realistic price. One or two aspects could be improved, but this is a respectable offering.

Typical price

£ 769

Put simply, what is the compelling reason to pay ~$200 extra for an Eee with Windows XP? A Windows Eee won't come with any useful applications and you'll have to buy anti-virus software to boot. The truth about low cost computing is that nobody really cares whether the machine is running Windows or Linux as long as its cheap, its easy to use and it works.
