Dell Inspiron 5100 review Editors Choice Award

Saturday 2 April 2005, 6:25 PM

Great desktop replacement notebook -- but heavy!

The Dell Inspiron 5100 is a great machine and have had no problems using it as if it were a regular old desktop PC. However functionality like that does have its drawbacks.

- Heavy machine at almost 8lbs.
- The battery life is not so great, 3 hours max at a full charge.
- Gets very hot when running a heavy processor load. (I've yet to have the restarting problems that others have had, but then again I don't do too much gaming, mostly mathematics software)
- Great bang for the buck otherwise.
