Mobile Pentium 4 notebooks

Intel recently launched its new-generation mobile processor, the Mobile Pentium 4 Processor-M, an event that was swiftly followed by a predictable flurry of new products from notebook manufacturers.

The benefits of the Pentium 4 architecture (0.13-micron process technology, 400MHz frontside bus, 512KB of Level 2 cache, support for DDR RAM and SSE2 instructions), combined with enhanced power-saving technologies, should deliver top-class performance -- especially with content-creation-type applications -- as well as long battery life.

So how does the first crop of Mobile Pentium 4 notebooks measure up? We've gathered the latest reviews into this guide -- but keep checking back, because we'll add more as new MP4-M-based products are released.

So far, we haven't seen a Mobile Pentium 4 notebook that has impressed us enough to award an Editors' Choice.
