Dell UltraSharp 1905FP review

Wednesday 11 May 2005, 9:45 AM

Good value - if the price is right

A great monitor, but be careful what you pay for it. A month ago, a work colleague bought one of these for £299+vat+P&P from the Dell UK website.

Two weeks ago, the same monitor was being sold for £243 inclusive. I bought one for home and one for the office, and love them ! Great image (on DVI) and no ghosting when playing games. Strange, given that it's only 20ms refresh rate.

But now, it's back to being sold at £354.

Seriously, with Dell's never ending list of discount schemes and "Must end in 2 days" offers, it's hard to know how to judge whether you can recommend these monitors.

At £243, it's a steal, buy it now.

And £354, either wait for the next burst of Dell offers to come along (sigh..) or go elsewhere. There are plenty of other decent DVI 19" around the £250 mark.

Or you could, of course, go and buy one from the Dell US website at about half the price.

Verdict

This 19in. LCD has all the right features: adjustability, excellent image quality and extras such as USB ports. All that, plus a reasonable price, makes the Dell UltraSharp 1905FP a winner.
