Sony Ericsson P900 review

Tuesday 2 March 2004, 5:41 AM

Finally you can dump your PDA and go with the full package!

A lifelong dedicated Palm user, I had become disillusioned with Palm's refusal to produce a Palm with everything (and NO keypad). The P900 does almost everything and neatly. The one dive programme I need that I still have on my Palm I am gambling will be ported to Symbian in the near future. If not, I can still keep the Palm at the bottom of my dive bag.

Verdict

Sony Ericsson has taken its P800 smartphone, made some improvements, and repackaged the whole thing. The result is a highly capable device that's the equal of its competitors.

Put simply, what is the compelling reason to pay ~$200 extra for an Eee with Windows XP? A Windows Eee won't come with any useful applications and you'll have to buy anti-virus software to boot. The truth about low cost computing is that nobody really cares whether the machine is running Windows or Linux as long as its cheap, its easy to use and it works.
