excellent scanner on my iMac running 10.2.8

I bought an HP 3970 (my first scanner) and tried to love it, but back it went (awful software & unreliable). I then bought one of the last Epson 2400's available; I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it's been. AND it's got a free copy of Photoshop Elememts 2!

I use it for negative scanning, prints & docs (its scanning software is good & updated on a regular basis -- but if you can afford it 'Vuescan' is a great addition).

If you see these being sold as clearout items get one, they're excellent!

Verdict

With its high resolution and 48-bit colour depth, the Perfection 2400 Photo should appeal to professionals, but slight imperfections in image quality make it more suited for hobbyists.
