iPhone A Secure Mobile Leader

iPhone A Secure Mobile Leader

iPhone User Review – Eric Everson, Founder MyMobiSafe.com – July 11, 2008

Review: The first time you pick up our iPhone, you realize that you are holding something special. From the sleek glossy case to the touch screen display that puts nearly every other cell phone on the market to shame, the iPhone screams superiority. The Operating System (OS) is easy to navigate especially for those familiar with the Apple computer-based OS. This handset offers a second to none digital display for viewing digital media or for browsing the Internet. The iPhone has an ability of making the user feel like they have their own piece of digital freedom in the palm of their hand. From browsing the Internet to making long calls the ergonomics of the iPhone are very comfortable.

Mobile Security: Despite being the most hacked mobile phone in the world, the iPhone remains one of the safest handsets on the market. The traditional vulnerabilities that mobile handsets face have been addressed by Apple’s finest. Similar to the computer-based Apple OS environment, iPhone users have virtually no digital risk of infection from viruses or other malware. To date, iPhone owners can safely rely on the factory security features built into their handset.

Next Gen Opportunities: The iPhone “1.0” has been a great addition and digital leap forward for the wireless industry as a whole. The iPhone has proven that the mobile internet is no match for the real thing. Additionally the success of the iPhone has acted as a catalyst for many other mobile handset manufactures. In the “iPhone 2.0”, I would like to see the ability to integrate third-party content and I would like to see better OS management of events multitasking. Naturally the processing speed and memory/storage could be further improved in future deployments. While the iPhone 1.0 made its statement very effectively in a bold black suit, it would be nice to see aesthetic enhancements such as interchangeable faceplates to the iPhone 2.0.

Additional Notes: As a mobile security expert and graduate student of software engineering alike, I can say with true conviction that the iPhone has been one of the most influential pieces of technology in the past year. It is rare in the wireless industry for one handset to have such a profound effect; undeniably Apple has marked their claim on the future of wireless innovation.

Verdict

Apple has taken the iPhone to the next level and added some excellent features, including 3G/HSDPA, GPS and support for Microsoft Exchange email. You still can't send MMS and there's only a 2-megapixel camera, but overall it's a wonderful experience.

Review Although it's missing some features (chiefly HSDPA and GPS), Nokia's E63 is a well-thought-out, ergonomic and affordable smartphone.
