Overpriced if primary use is navigator

The HP iPAQ rz1710 is good in itself and represents good value in its own right. However when used in conjunction with via michelin becomes an overpriced sat/nav system. The navigator cannot distinguish between public and private roads and will quite happily direct you onto military bases. The limited memory means it cannot handle routes in excess of about 100 mls without running out of memory. This causes a system crash which is quite difficult to recover. An expensive tech support number being a not ideal choice. Not a system for the serious motorist.

Verdict

This is a well-priced Windows Mobile handheld/GPS navigation solution, although the wired car-only GPS receiver may not be to all tastes.
