Very nice, support could be a lot better

Very nice device, works like a charm but.... there is a firmware issue.

T-Mobile has (as of now) not yet released a new firmware for this device. Their competitors (like HTC and so on) have released 3 updates so far. This results in that some bluetooth devices will not or not correctly work with the MDA Compact.

Techsupport of T-Mobile recognizes this problem but are unable to supply a date on which the firmware will be available. The only thing they kept repeating is ... we are working on it.

So, in a nutshell, the MDA Compact is a nice device but be sure to try / test the bluetooth devices you want before you actually buy them.... otherwise you could be in for a unpleasant surprise.

Verdict

We like T-Mobile's MDA Compact as much as we liked the similar i-mate JAM. The only drawbacks -- of both devices -- are limited memory and lack of built-in Wi-Fi.
