i-mate JAM review

Friday 14 July 2006, 4:49 PM

Diabolic support and arrogant UK repair centre

I had a problem with software purchased from the Cub iMate website and contacted their online support to claim a refund. The long and short of it is that they have blocked my Club iMate ID and email addresses (associated via the device's IMEI) and ignored all communication with me! If I was being rude or abusive I would've understood, but this is not my style when trying to get something from someone!

Their phone support is also dire!

What is worse is that their repair centre SBE Ltd (UK) "lost" my main battery when I sent it to them (after charging me £40 for the privilege) which then completely drained the back-up battery which now no longer retains charge - 2 issues for the price of one!

After talking to SBE's head honcho the company's line? Basically, "Give us another £40..."

They refused to acknowledge that their action (or inaction in this case by not returning what I had sent them) caused subsequent problems which they are not acknowledging.

I am considering legal action now and although the iMate Hardware is attractive (when it works), the supporting infrastructure of this company is diabolical.

Avoid this like the plague.
