PalmOne Tungsten T5 review

Thursday 31 March 2005, 7:17 AM

A mixed bag

After 5+ hard resets and re-installs I have given up on sync'ing with anything. The software crashed on the first install and since then - nothing. However, the Drive Mode option is a great feature and I use this to install new software, transfer files etc. Also the lack of cradle is very annoying. I think it could be very good if any of the software I got with it would install. But with all the hassle, I would look at a different PDA if I was buying today.

Put simply, what is the compelling reason to pay ~$200 extra for an Eee with Windows XP? A Windows Eee won't come with any useful applications and you'll have to buy anti-virus software to boot. The truth about low cost computing is that nobody really cares whether the machine is running Windows or Linux as long as its cheap, its easy to use and it works.
