Dell Axim X50 review

Wednesday 29 December 2004, 12:10 PM

Affordable, good looking and user friendly

I recently bought an X50, the mid-range model, to replace a Sony CLIE that no longer met my needs. I am very impressed with the design, although the battery cover seems a bit flimsy, and the features. With a 1GB SD card in I have enough room for all my work documents and a couple of e-books and a few CDs worth of music. The processor is plenty fast enough and the screen excellent. I personally couldn't justify the extra money for the VGA screen. The software bundle is on a par with other handhelds I was considering, all of which were far more expensive than the X50.

Battery life is fine, still 50% left after 3 days of normal use for me on a new battery. The service from Dell has been superb, 5 days from order to delivery just before christmas, excellent order tracking and user friendly delivery times. I can certainly recommend the X50 and Dell. I will be returning to Dell for my computers in the future.

Review Although it's missing some features (chiefly HSDPA and GPS), Nokia's E63 is a well-thought-out, ergonomic and affordable smartphone.
