Acer n30 review

Tuesday 27 June 2006, 7:57 AM

Good machine but poor support from Acer

I bought ny n30 when they first came out, The processor is a little slow but still gives acceptable performanace. It is slim and easy to use. I have the version with sat-nav which is good. Unfortunately and sad to say unfortunately the n30 for me fails on a number of points. If it goes wrong the back-up from Acer is appalling - Plymouth must be in a different country. No replies, not interested. The n30 has a problem because the synch / recharger slot at the bottom gets mangled and the motherboard gets torn apart inside - won't synch or recharge and suddenly you have a bill for at least £75 to put matters right (Or £200 if you ask Acer). Sadly the poor support from Acer has turned a potentially good machine into a nightmare.

Verdict

Acer's n30 Pocket PC is compact and lightweight, and includes Bluetooth, but it could do with integrated Wi-Fi and a swappable battery.

Review Although it's missing some features (chiefly HSDPA and GPS), Nokia's E63 is a well-thought-out, ergonomic and affordable smartphone.
