O2 xda II review Editors Choice Award

Sunday 16 November 2003, 10:43 AM

All I want in one box

A great machine. I've had an iPAQ H3850 for 2 years and this is a step up (PDA functionality, integrated phone, camera & video). Its battery life of ~4hrs of solid PDA usage is better than my old iPAQ (though not enormously). However, the removable battery gives me the option of carrying a spare battery around for longer disconnected periods). I was a bit dubious about using a PDA as a mobile phone, but for me it works very well (especially being able to call from details stored in Outlook and being able to write notes whilst talking on the phone). Sound quality of the provided headset is good (not quite as good as using a Sennheiser M5X00).
It doesn't have Wi-Fi support, but for me Bluetooth and infrared (for using as a TV remote) are fine.

Verdict

The xda II features a tri-band GSM/GPRS phone, a VGA-resolution digital camera and Bluetooth built in, along with 128MB of RAM, an SDIO-compatible card slot and an improved screen. This makes it one of the best handheld/mobile phone combos around.
