Nice size and weight. Excellent features. Good Value
As a pleased owner of a Palm Vx for 3 years I reluctantly bought the T3. It just seemed like a lot of money for another gadget. When I got the T3 home and went through the usual set-up routine I transferred the Vx data to the T3 (via PC) with no fuss. From then I could see that the Palm people had their act together. Bluetooth makes exchanging data with my mobile phone a doddle. The infra Red port has allowed me to transfer files wirelessly to and from PC’s and my Vx. The T3 is not as slim as the Vx so it doesn’t fit in the shirt pocket as neatly but the lovely colour screen and pin point screen resolution with extendable screen with Landscape view makes up for it. The cut down word processor and spreadsheet has meant that I can continue working on the train, even while standing. Large documents mean that there is a lot of scrolling up and down to do though. A thumb wheel would be useful for this. The unit is extremely robust. So far I’ve dropped the T3 on the floor/ground about 4 or 5 times and once, very accidentally and very very briefly, in a sink full of water. The unit still works today. So for any clumsy people like me, the T3 is for you. The voice recording control is great for making brief notes when I don’t feel like writing. It’s not all Roses though. The Graffiti software doesn’t seem to be as forgiving as on the Vx. I find I have to write slower and use bigger motions for the software to translate my strokes correctly every time. The ‘shortcut’ feature seems slower too. Maybe it’s me. The Notepad software is a handy feature for quick notes but the resolution of the drawing lines could be improved. To charge up the T3 you need to put plug it in the docking unit. A separate mains power would be handy. Anyway in summary, the Tungsten T3 is worth the £200 I paid for it and my wife thinks I should have it strapped to me because I’m always using it even when we go shopping for furniture.
