Garmin iQue 3600 review Editors Choice Award

Saturday 9 September 2006, 7:01 PM

Stay Away, Stay far away!

If you purchase this unit, you are throwing money away. Right now it's sitting in the drawer. The map data disappeared numerous times; Syncing with a PC to reload the maps is almost impossible, I’ve managed to accomplish this only three times in about fifteen attempts. It was sent back to Garmin and repaired once already and as of now it’s, (surprise!) out of warranty. The optional car cradle is as useless as the unit itself. The speaker no longer works, this due to the fact that the volume knob somehow disappeared into the units base. I wrote a negative review on the Garmin website stating that "It makes a great paperweight" and they didn't post it (Hmmm). They Emailed me stating they attempted to call me about the problems I was having, seeing that I have an answering machine and caller ID, I could not find any evidence of this alleged attempt to contact me.

Despite its poor battery life, Garmin's iQue 3600 is a powerful Palm OS handheld and an accomplished GPS navigation device.
