TomTom Navigator 2 review

Wednesday 10 December 2003, 9:36 PM

Routing algorithm kill good product

This product has a very good interface (one of the best on the market), but routing is so bad that it become useless in real world. Pretty nice to play with, but not to use.

Interface is not perfect as well. Missing route name, where you are moving.
No exit number in guidance. 3D interface is over styled and difficult to read.
Search address database and POI just a joke, not usable. Voice guidance always misses turn for second.
Forgot to mention maps. They are terrible (at least in US)

Verdict

Despite its lack of speed, TomTom 2 is an excellent Pocket PC-based GPS navigation system. Significant enhancements in version 2 make it the current best of breed.

Review Although it's missing some features (chiefly HSDPA and GPS), Nokia's E63 is a well-thought-out, ergonomic and affordable smartphone.
