The product is fine, but the maps need addressing

I have been using TomTom for a while now, on a Cassiopeia E115, and it seems very stable. In my job, delivering home shopping, the ability to tell me where to go right down to house number level is very useful.

The only thing that lets it down is that the maps are quite badly out of date, and some areas are geographically incorrect; an example of this, I live in Gloucester, and it thinks Churchdown in a suburb of Tewkesbury, when in fact it is a suburb of Gloucester. This can cause me to need to look at a book of maps to see if I need to put down the suburb rather than just the street in Gloucester, a major pain for something intending to be a stand-alone navigational aid.

I was also a little disappointed that they only promised to email me with details of any updates, rather than post map updates directly on the tomtom site.

That said, with this minor annoyance, I would heartilly recommend Navigator 2 as a GPS package. Definately a clear leader.

Verdict

Despite its lack of speed, TomTom 2 is an excellent Pocket PC-based GPS navigation system. Significant enhancements in version 2 make it the current best of breed.
