Microsoft has launched Windows Mobile 6.5, an interim upgrade to its mobile operating system, and has rebranded devices powered by the new OS as 'Windows phones'.

Windows phones are now more touch- and consumer-friendly. Internet Explorer Mobile gains new navigation tools as well as Flash Lite support. Microsoft has also launched its own app store, Windows Marketplace for Mobile, plus a backup service called My Phone.

Eight Windows Mobile 6.5 phones have been announced for the UK. The following pages introduce each of them. Look out for full reviews of selected devices on ZDNet UK shortly.
