7.0

Editors' Rating

Very Good

Typical price:Free

Verdict

The design isn't great and we'd have liked some additional features, but the real beauty of the T-Mobile G1 is the Google Android platform, as it has the potential to make smartphones more personal and powerful. Pros

  • Full QWERTY keyboard
  • 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth
  • Google Android OS offers good integration with Google applications as well as access to YouTube
  • Will become a more powerful smartphone as more applications become available

Cons

  • No Microsoft Exchange support
  • Lacks a standard headphone jack and stereo Bluetooth
  • Some annoying design quirks make it uncomfortable to hold and difficult to use
  • Speakerphone quality could be better
