Don't buy it if you need it for your serious work

We bought one for our image acquisition system last October, but until now we haven't been able to use it extensively due to the problems of running the software on it. It was running our application much slower comparing to even a lower spec G5, and it also crashed out unexpectedly in the middle of image acquisition. AppleCare tech support worth nothing and we had graphics card replaced last Friday, and it slow down and crashed the first time we ran our imaging application software. We are going back square one to figure out what the problem is with the G5 again.

Verdict

Creative pros and power users will salivate over the speed and the design of Apple's top-of-the-line Power Mac G5, but we wish it offered more expansion and better support.
