Dell OptiPlex SX260 review

Tuesday 18 November 2003, 3:43 PM

Excellent Corporate PC with Domestic application limited to un-demanding non-technical users

We've just purchased a batch of 110 SX260s and they have proven to be reliable, well built, cheap to run and, thanks to a low-cost imaging service from Dell, easy to configure. Only problem so far is a noisy CD-ROM drive with certain CD's. This PC will not be suitable for all types of users (especially the power users), but for the vast majority of users running office packages it's ideal. Total cost of ownership should be low -- i.e a reliable system, low power consumption (no power-hungry PCI or AGP slots)and good support.

Verdict

Taking the small-footprint desktop PC to its logical extreme, Dell's OptiPlex SX260 is a study in compactness that should fit most offices, but doesn't ignore centralised management issues.
