Sony Ericsson HBH-35 review

Wednesday 18 February 2004, 6:36 AM

Fantastic battery life, good audio quality, quite comfortable

I had a Nokia HDW-2 Bluetooth headset. I found the battery life very very poor, hard to feel the control buttons (especially the volume controls), voice quality was poor and it does hurt you ear if you wear it for a couple of hours. I replaced it with the SE HBH-35 and had it on throughout the day, and it did not bother me much. It is miles ahead of Nokia in terms of battery life and comfort. One thing missing in Nokia and SE is an earpiece adapter similar to the one offered by Jabra's Mini ear gel that helps hearing in noisy environment. But after using the Nokia Bluetooth headset, I am convinced the SE HBH-35 is a great headset. It is a bit pricey though.

Verdict

The HBH-35 offers good, if not outstanding, features and performance, but it's priced too high compared with other Bluetooth headsets.

Put simply, what is the compelling reason to pay ~$200 extra for an Eee with Windows XP? A Windows Eee won't come with any useful applications and you'll have to buy anti-virus software to boot. The truth about low cost computing is that nobody really cares whether the machine is running Windows or Linux as long as its cheap, its easy to use and it works.
