HANDHELDS & SMARTPHONES
Handheld
HTC TyTN II

Few new Windows Mobile handhelds add significantly to the genre, but HTC has managed that with the TyTN II and its tilting screen. It also includes an up-to-the-minute set of features and wins a well-deserved Editors' Choice.
Toshiba Portégé G900

Toshiba’s Portégé G900 is a well-specified Windows Mobile 6 handheld with a good set of wireless connectivity options and an excellent 800-by-480 display. If it was a bit slimmer and integrated GPS as well, it would be a real winner.
Smartphone
Nokia E61i

Nokia's E61i offers better build quality, a digital camera and a slimmer profile than its predecessor, the E61. Current users of the E61, however, may not be convinced that such tweaks are worth the upgrade.
BlackBerry 8820

The Wi-Fi-equipped BlackBerry 8820 is what its predecessor, the 8800, should have been. As implemented, though, Wi-Fi's value is somewhat limited as the 8820 doesn't include full SIP support for unfettered VoIP usage.
HP iPAQ 514 Voice Messenger

The Windows Mobile 6-based iPAQ 514 Voice Messenger is attractively priced, although some (generally sensible) compromises have been made. Overall, HP’s first foray into the Windows Mobile smartphone market is very impressive.
HTC S710

HTC's S710 is ideal if you're seeking a smartphone with a full keyboard that can fit comfortably in your pocket. We'd have liked to see 3G support though.
