Thin & light
Dell Latitude D630

Corporate users can't go wrong with the Dell Latitude D630, which
integrates Intel's latest mobile platform with a business-friendly
feature set and a long-lived extended battery.
Lenovo ThinkPad T61

Lenovo's 14.1in. ThinkPad T61 shaves a few millimeters off the
company's more mainstream R-series notebooks, but still boasts the
same, solid ThinkPad DNA along with IT-friendly features by way of
Intel's new Centrino Pro platform.
Ultraportable
ASUS Eee PC 701

The Asus Eee PC 701 is a great notebook. It's extremely affordable, attractively designed and highly portable. If you're looking for an ultraportable travelling companion or a cheap second computer, there are few better options.
Toshiba Portégé R500

Nothing beats the Toshiba Portégé R500-10U for sheer lightness. It lets
itself down slightly due to its flimsy feel, and the battery life could
be a bit longer, but it's still an astonishing product.
Samsung Q40

This is a nicely designed ultraportable with integrated 3G/HSDPA
connectivity and a high-quality 12.1in. wide-aspect screen. It comes
with two batteries and has an easily accessible SIM card slot, but the
optical drive is an external unit and the system only has two on-board
USB ports.
Lenovo ThinkPad X61s

The ThinkPad X61s provides excellent dual-core performance in a
lightweight, compact package that's still comfortable to use.
Rugged
Panasonic Toughbook CF-30

This notebook is clearly not suitable for general office duties, but
for those who work mainly outdoors in challenging environments, it
could be a solid investment.
Tablet / UMPC
Fujitsu Siemens LifeBook P1610

Although the LifeBook P1610's screen is small, its keyboard cramped and
it lacks an optical drive, this ultraportable convertible Tablet PC
delivers much more than any UMPC of similar footprint and weight.
