Christmas Competition 2007

Win a Crucial 2GB memory kit

[CLOSED]

Most of us could do with a bit more memory to make the software on our computer zing. In this competition, we're giving five ZDNet.co.uk readers the chance to walk off with 2GB of RAM from Crucial — more than enough to punch up performance.

Adding memory is a quick and simple way to upgrade your system, so it can work smoothly with demanding software such as photo-editing applications, 64-bit software and even high-end games. The five winners will each get a Crucial memory kit that's guaranteed to work in their particular machine, whether a PC, Mac or notebook.

The easiest way to pinpoint the best fit is the Crucial System Scanner, which will scan your computer and then recommend an upgrade. You might benefit from a couple of 240-pin DIMMs of DDR3, the latest generation of memory, which has an improved architecture that allows it to transmit data more quickly. Or perhaps a 240-pin DIMM, DDR2 PC2-6400 memory module fits the bill. Crucial has a range to fit any computer, even a custom build. And the modules are easy to install yourself, as all you need to do is snap one in a memory slot. For first-timers, Crucial has a video guide on its website to help with the process of installing the modules, taking you through the five most important steps to getting it done

New technology places more calls on a system, whether it's the latest dual-core processors or even Vista. If you want to keep your computer up to snuff, a hefty addition of memory is an effective way to go about it.
